Our club was founded in the late 1980s under the name “Mosgiel Grass Kart Club”.

In the early days the karts were all built from scratch. There were 3 common frames used; The John Anderson Frame, the Dave Blackwood Box Section frame and the Gibbs Frame.

In 1992, we transitioned to “Green Island Grass Kart Club” and our club was run out of the Green Island Town & Country Club.

Finally in 2019, we adopted our current name the Dunedin Grass Kart Club.

Todays karts are quite a different beast compared to those early days with now most carts being converted track kart frames or purpose built dirt kart frames.

Thanks to the hard work of the founding members, and the dedication and enthusiasm of our current members, the club continues to go from strength to strength by participating and hosting bigger events, and enjoying continued membership growth by attracting new members of all ages!
